Frequently Asked Questions
I’m nervous about starting therapy. Is that normal?
Yes, it’s completely normal. Starting therapy can feel vulnerable. It takes courage, and the fact that you’re here shows strength. You’re welcome to bring your nervousness with you—I’ll do my best to help you feel comfortable.
How do I know if you’re the right therapist for me?
Read through my website and if you feel a connection, let’s talk. A free phone consultation is a great way to ask questions, learn about my approach, and see how it feels to connect. Therapy is a relationship—we’ll explore together whether it’s a good fit.
What if I don’t want to talk about something?
That’s okay. You decide what you’re ready to share. We’ll move at your pace, and even your hesitation can be something we talk about together.
I’m scared you’ll think I’m a bad person if I open up.
You’re not alone in that fear. Many feel that way. I will not judge you—I’ll see you as brave and human. You deserve to be heard with compassion and respect.
Is therapy confidential?
Yes. Everything you share is confidential, unless there’s a risk of harm to yourself or someone else. Your privacy and trust are very important to me. Feel free to ask about this during your consultation or any time.
How long will therapy take?
Many clients start to feel better after a few sessions. The total duration varies—some benefit from short-term work, others prefer ongoing support. We’ll figure out what’s best for you together.
What happens during the first session?
The first session is a chance for us to get to know each other. I’ll ask about your current challenges, past experiences with therapy, and your goals. You can ask questions too. Just show up as you are—openness is more important than having it all figured out.
